Think of Ferrari in the 1960s and one's mind almost certainly turns to the 250 GTO, a supreme icon of its age and for many the most outstanding Ferrari ever designed.
Only 33 of the Series 1 cars were built and since the 1980s they have consistently achieved record prices at auction.
The powerful but perfectly balanced and elegant lines of the bodywork match the superb mechanical characteristics of the car.
This limited edition model of the 250 GTO Series 1 is very deeply detailed indeed - an opening bonnet gives access to view the precisely modelled 3.0 litre V12 engine. Inside and beneath the car the chassis, drive train, suspension and cockpit, are all re-created in extremely fine detail.
To ensure complete accuracy every part of the model has been created using data drawn from a full digital scan of each component of a real car.
At 1:8 scale the model is approximately 60 cms (24 inches) long. Creating the master model took around 4,000 hours of work by a small team of highly skilled modelmakers. Each individual model then took around 350 hours more to finish and build.
Each model in the edition of 199 pieces has a signed certificate of authentication and a unique edition numbered plate on the base.
